The Jackson Shrine is located in present day Caroline County near Guinea, Virginia, some nine miles south of Fredericksburg. The building represents a modest structure of the early nineteenth century; a product of rural imagination. It was in this story-and-a-half gabled structure that Confederate General "Stonewall" Jackson died in 1863. This Historic Structures Report details the work done on the Jackson Shrine to restore it to its 1863 appearance.
