Glen Canyon National Recreation Area for hundreds of miles, from Lees Ferry in Arizona to the Orange Cliffs of southern Utah, encompassing scenic vistas, geologic wonders, and a vast panorama of human history. This report is the second one resulting from a multiyear contract between the National Park Service, Rocky Mountain Regional Office, and Nickens and Associates. The overall contract involves a projected four year ruins stabilization effort in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, located in southeastern Utah and northeastern Arizona. The report provides documentation for the project's second field season, conducted in the fall of 1984. At time of this writing, a third field season of stabilization-related activities has been completed and the report of that work is in progress. The second year field effort included a variety of activities. Two sites, Polaroid Site and Widow's Ledge, received structural stabilization. A final task completed during the field season was pre-stabilization data gathering at two additional sites, The Penthouse and Angry Ridge Ruin. All in all, the reporting of the second year stabilization activities offers an overview of what elements an active, ongoing ruins stabilization program should contain.
