Harpers Ferry National Historical Park preserves historic resources and commemorates the historic events that occurred at and around Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The park consists of portions of the Lower Town, the former Storer College campus, landscapes associated with the national historical park’s Civil War significance, and lands preserving the historic viewshed down the Potomac River. This historic building report concerns the Gerard Wager Buildings (bldgs. 9 and 8) in the Lower Town of Harpers Ferry. The exteriors of both buildings are to be restored to their 1859-1865 appearance and their interiors to be rehabilitated. The first floor windows of Building no. 9 is to contain period window exhibits related to the 1859-65 use of the structure. This report traces the historical development of the structures and property.
