Harpers Ferry National Historical Park preserves historic resources and commemorates the historic events that occurred at and around Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The park consists of portions of the Lower Town, the former Storer College campus, landscapes associated with the national historical park’s Civil War significance, and lands preserving the historic viewshed down the Potomac River. This historic structure report concerns the Nichols/Williams Building (Bldg. 3) in the Lower Town area of Harpers Ferry. It is recommended that the exterior of Building 3 be restored to its appearance at the time of its construction (1896-1907), and the interior be adaptively restored. The upper floors will be restored as closely as possible to the original arrangements- that is, asclosely as our limited knowledge of the original arrangements will allow. These upper-floor spaces will be used for offices and storage.
