From May 20 to July 16, 1967, the author, with the help of several members of the Virginia Archeological Society, conducted limited archeological testing of the site designated TRI#1 on Theodore Roosevelt Island in the Potomac River. The site was tested under the purchase order of the National Park Service in order to ascertain its archeological potential. The investigation found that, on the basis of the artifacts recovered, TRI#1 was occupied for at least the last 2000 years. TRI#1 is typical of sites in the local area. It is the opinion of the author that the excavation detailed in this report is sufficient to gain the limited amount of information available there and would recommend no further work.
