The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site preserves Springwood, the birthplace, lifelong home, and burial site of Franklin D. Roosevelt. This Historic Structures Report, Part I concerns the Duplex Quarters (Building No. 20). The Master Plan initially recommended that the structure be rehabilitated. After reviewing the architectural data section of the report and considering the location and costs, it was recommended that the structure be demolished and usable material be salvaged. Like other structures on the site, this is part of the setting of the area as it appeared on April 12, 1945. The structure provided quarters for two of the families that were employed on the Estate.
