Preface: "This report contains inventories of cultural and historical sites in Ngatpang state. The information is intended to upgrade the available data at the Bureau of Cultural and Historical Preservation and serve as a tool to preserve, protect, and manage Palau's cultural resources. The state surveys completed so far include from north to south is Kayangle State, Ngarchelong State, Ngaraard State, Ngiwal State, Melekeok State, Hatohobei State, and Sonsorol State. In Ngatpang State, a total of 70 sites have been identified including traditional villages, terrace complexes, landmarks, stone features, taro patches, scattered sherds, shell midden, WWII remains, and historic remains." Project funding was provided in part by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Palau Historic Preservation Office, Bureau of Cultural and Historical Preservation, Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs, administered by the Pacific West Regional Office, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior (grant number 70-13-51964).
