The objective of this paint analysis is to determine the earliest exterior painting scheme of building 36G (the Steamship Office) located in Skagway, Alaska, a part of Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. This is for the purpose of recommending historically accurate colors for repainting. The analysis describes the paint sampling process, historical background on the structure, chromochronology forms, observations, and conclusions of the analysis. The earliest paint layers from both samples were observed to be a light gray, although it was not possible to accurately determine what time this represents. It provides recommendations for repainting and further study.
