Per Mitchell et al. (2018) the purpose(s) of an operational review are to: (1) obtain feedback on protocol implementation (2) ensure that the written protocol remains in sync with annual monitoring activities (3) document changes in procedures and equipment and (4) capture lessons learned as changes to be made going forward. An operational review should also provide monitoring staff with an opportunity to discuss the state of the science of the protocol and make recommendations for a science review, as needed. Operational reviews primarily cover standard operating procedures (SOPs) and operational documents (Mitchell et al. 2018). This write-up details the operational review for the Cumberland Piedmont Network's Vegetation Monitoring Protocol.
