The purpose of this Cultural Landscape Report is to investigate, document, evaluate, and provide treatment guidance for the physical landscape associated with a portion of Manassas National Battlefield Park in Manassas, Virginia. The study area is comprised of 426 acres associated with the historic Henry and Robinson farms, located in the southeast quadrant of the park. The study area is primarily significant for its association with the Battle of First Manassas in July, 1861 and the Battle of Second Manassas in August, 1862. This Cultural Landscape Report builds upon other planning efforts that address the Henry Farm and Robinson Farm landscape including the 2011 Manassas National Battlefield Park General Management Plan, the 2013 Fence Lines, Fields, and Forests: Manassas National Battlefield Park Cultural Landscape Report, the 2019 Henry Hill Cultural Landscape Inventory, and the 2019 Robinson Farm Cultural Landscape Inventory. The CLR is organized in two parts. Part 1 contains detailed documentation of the historic development of the study area landscape, evaluation of existing landscape condition, and analysis of landscape integrity with identification of contributing features. Part 2 explains selection of rehabilitation as the most appropriate landscape treatment approach based on the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Landscapes, and provides recommendations for the treatment, management, and maintenance of historic landscape resources that are consistent with the landscape’s significance, condition, and use.
