This report was initiated by the United State Air Force in anticipation of efforts to prepare the Wright Brothers Hill memorial plaza (a landscape designed by the Olmsted Brothers landscape architectural firm), for the one hundredth anniversary of powered flight. The Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has identified the treatment of the deterioration of the memorial's features and surfaces as a priority for their ongoing stewardship of the 21.5-acre Wright Brothers Hill landscape. Although not described in this report, on outcome of this project was the successful siting of the new visitor center facility at the rear of the memorial design, terminating the central design axis.
