Erickson H and Drachman Institute Heritage Conservation. 2017. Historic Ecclesiastical Landscapes Study: The Russian Orthodox Church in Alaska, 1840-1920. Cultural Landscape Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Alaska Regional Office. Anchorage, Alaksa
This document presents the Cultural Landscape Inventory (CLI) and Cultural Landscape Report (CLR) for Twin Lakes (Niłqidlen Vena) cultural landscape (the study area) within Lake Clark National Park and Preserve (park and preserve). This CLI/CLR is the primary treatment document for the cultural landscape. This CLI/CLR presents detailed documentation of the study area’s cultural landscape historical development, existing condition, analysis of integrity, and identification of contributing features. This document establishes a treatment philosophy and treatment recommendations to guide long-term care and stewardship of the cultural landscape. This CLI/CLR builds upon previously developed studies, investigations, and documentation of the study area. These include the 2014 General Management Plan (GMP) Amendment/Environmental Assessment, 2013 Draft Land Protection Plan, 2007 National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) nomination for the Richard L. Proenneke Site (Proenneke Site), 2014 NRHP nomination amendment for the Proenneke Site, 2015 Cultural Landscape Inventory (CLI) for the Proenneke Site, archeological investigations, and relevant plans and resource reports. Treatment recommendations are consistent with the park and preserve’s 2014 GMP.
