Mundus Bishop. 2021. Cultural Landscape Report: Russian Bishop's House. Cultural Landscape Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Alaska Regional Office. Anchorage, Alaksa
This document presents the Cultural Landscape Report (CLR) for Russian Bishop’s House Unit (the study area) within Sitka National Historical Park (the park) in Southeast Alaska. The study area includes Russian Bishop’s House National Historic Landmark (Russian Bishop’s House), Priest’s Quarters/House 105 (Priest’s Quarters), Old School, and the site. This CLR is the primary treatment document for the cultural landscape. This CLR presents detailed documentation of historical development, existing condition, analysis of integrity, and identification of contributing features. This document establishes a treatment philosophy and treatment recommendations to guide long-term care and stewardship of the cultural landscape. This work builds upon previously developed studies, investigations, and documentation for Russian Bishop’s House, Priest’s Quarters, and Old School. These include the 1983 National Historic Landmark (NHL) nomination, 1998 General Management Plan (GMP), 2018 Cultural Landscape Inventory (CLI), archeology investigations, and relevant plans and resource reports. Treatment recommendations are consistent with the park’s GMP.
