Measurements of the occurrence and diversity of avian species at landscape scales are crucial in light of Alaska’s rapidly changing climate. Traditionally, the National Park Service conducts avian inventories by sending research teams into the field where they use a variety of survey methods to collect data on species presence. Such data can be time consuming and costly to collect. To extend this type of work, we demonstrate a toolkit of acoustic methods that can be used to conduct avian inventories in parks (especially large or remote ones.) This report was developed to satisfy NPS Technical Assistance Request #2252, 'Acoustics Based Avian Inventory'.
