The first National Parks Conference was held in 1911 at Yellowstone National Park. The conference presenters and attendees consisted of Superintendents of the various parks, the principal Washington officers of the Department of the Interior who handled national park matters, and any independent organizations that had an interest in the problems of park administration. Representatives of all the transportation companies and concession companies involved with the parks were also invited to attend and speak. The purpose of the conference was to consider questions that arose in the administration of national parks and to to help the Department of the Interior make any needed changes in the regulations governing national parks. All of the papers and speeches presented at conference are included in the Proceedings.
