Cultural Landscape Report Fletcher’s Cove, Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park

Quinn Evans. 2022. Cultural Landscape Report Fletcher’s Cove, Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park. Cultural Landscape Report. National Park Service. Washington, DC

The document contains the Cultural Landscape Report (CLR) for Fletcher’s Cove, a part of the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park (C&O Canal NHP). The CLR documents the site history, existing conditions documented in November, 2021, analysis and evaluation of landscape changes and historical significance, and treatment guidelines for the Fletcher’s Cove study area. Guidelines for the cultural landscape establish a philosophy and framework to balance preservation of natural and cultural resources with changes to circulation related to visitor safety. The CLR builds upon previous planning documents and provides park professionals with the information necessary to preserve significant landscape features while improving the circulation safety.
