NPSTORET - Data Import Instructions

National Park Service, Water Resources Division. 2023. NPSTORET - Data Import Instructions. National Park Service, Water Resources Division

NPSTORET can import properly formatted stations, results, taxa lists, and characteristic definitions files produced by other applications and/or databases. The files can be from your own monitoring program, laboratory data, other monitoring efforts, or even downloads from standardized national water quality databases such as the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Legacy STORET database (https://www.epa.gov/waterdata/water-quality-data-wqx#legacy), the U.S. Geological Survey’s National Water Information System (https://nwis.waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis), the National Water Quality Monitoring Council’s Water Quality Portal (https://www.waterqualitydata.us), and Gold Systems' Ambient Water Quality Monitoring System. The Water Quality Portal accesses data from the U.S. Geological Survey’s National Water Information System; the Environmental Protection Agency’s STORET Data Warehouse; and the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service STEWARDS database. Although the EPA no longer maintains direct access to the STORET Data Warehouse, NPSTORET retains the functionality to import files that were created as downloads from modern STORET. You can also perform update imports using primary keys to update stations, visits, activities, and results. NPSTORET can import directly from Access, Excel, text, and dBase file formats.
