WRST Caribou Monitoring Data Management Standard Operating Procedures

Miller S. 2024. WRST Caribou Monitoring Data Management Standard Operating Procedures. National Park Service

This standard operating procedure (SOP) covers data management operations for the Mentasta and Chisana caribou long term monitoring program at Wrangell St. Elias National Park and Preserve. Long-term monitoring is different than a typical research project in that maintaining the informational content of the data for decades requires that data be collected consistently over the decades, and products be well documented and, most importantly, made available to the future personnel who will carry on the monitoring. This SOP defines the generation and handling of field data deliverables. Field data collection procedures are covered elsewhere. Background information on the caribou monitoring program is at https://irma.nps.gov/DataStore/Reference/Profile/2217176
