Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is developing a Wilderness and Backcountry Management Plan that will guide visitor use and the natural resource management of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison Wilderness Area. The goal of the technical assistance request was to survey fish, periphyton, and aquatic macroinvertebrate communities in the Gunnison River through the Black Canyon of the Gunnison Wilderness within BLCA to characterize the extant species assemblages and, if possible, to identify native versus non-native species'; a key wilderness character measure of the wilderness plan.
