This Historic Structure Report (HSR) documents the history, current conditions, and recommended treatment for the Visitor Center, 1938 Ranger Residence, 1958 Ranger Residence, and Maintenance Shop at Scotts Bluff National Monument in Nebraska. The report identifies characteristics and features of the historic structures that convey historic significance and provides a plan for long term preservation and stewardship. The HSR is the primary document used to guide management and inform treatment and maintenance recommendations. These structures reflect the development of Scotts Bluff National Monument and are associated with government building campaigns, beginning in 1935 with construction using Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) labor and continuing to the Mission 66 initiative that included the Maintenance Shop. The proposed treatment approach for all these buildings is rehabilitation.
