The Cultural Landscape Report (CLR) for Rim Village Historic District (RVHD, or district) serves as the principal treatment document for the cultural landscape and primary tool for the long-term management of its physical attributes. The CLR provides a preservation philosophy, framework, and recommendations for the cultural landscape. The recommendations are grounded in consolidated research and inventory, documentation, and analysis and evaluation of the landscape’s characteristics and associated features. RVHD, located within Crater Lake National Park, was determined eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Place (NRHP) under Criterion A and Criterion C by the National Park Service in 1996; the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office concurred with the finding in 1997. The period of significance is 1927 through 1941, encompassing the years when Rim Village was designed and constructed under the direction of Thomas C. Vint of the NPS San Francisco field office. Existing conditions were documented, and existing features identified in a Cultural Landscape Inventory (CLI) report in 2004.
