Charlie Wolff Cabin Complex (XLC-00295) (Lake Clark National Park and Preserve, Alaska) Consensus Determination of Eligibility (CDOE) with supporting text, sources, maps, and photographs. SHPO Concurrence Letter is included with the CDOE. Evaluated as a District. Documents find the Charlie Wolff Complex significant at a local level under Criteria A and C in the areas of Exploration/Settlement and Social History for being associated with the first pre-World War II European American settlers to Tanalian Point and for being a well-built log cabin at the dawn of the aviation era at Lake Clark. This complex of prospector-trapper Charlie Wolff and subsequent prospector-trappers to the area providing a period of significance of 1932 – 1944. The Charlie Wolff Complex consists of the Wolff Cabin, Wolff Cache, and Wolff Smokehouse which retain all seven aspects of integrity of Location, Design, Setting, Materials, Workmanship, Feeling, Association. The Wolff Root Cellar is now an open site and has lost integrity of Materials and Workmanship. The original Wolff Outhouse was constructed of log which have since deteriorated and has been rebuilt in frame construction in 2000 and thus non-contributing in this documentation. is eligible for listing in the NRHP under Criterion A at a local level as part of the military activities in the area during World War 2. The Consensus Determination of Eligibility process allows Federal decision makers, in consultation with SHPOs, FPOs, or THPOs, and other consulting parties to assess a resource for listing in the NRHP. If they agree that it meets NRHP criteria the property is treated as eligible for purposes of compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
