This User Manual was produced to describe and guide use of the List of Classified Structures (LCS) database following the release of Version 5.0 in 2001 and includes the agenda for training in July 2001. This user manual was never finalized and published. The database was updated again in 2006, and a new draft manual was authored which is also included in IRMA. New guidance was issued in 2010 and 2024. The LCS is now the Historic Structure module of the four module Cultural Resources Inventory System (CRIS), or CRIS-HS. The List of Classified Structures (LCS) is an evaluated inventory of all historic and prehistoric structures that have historical, architectural, and/or engineering significance within parks of the National Park System in which the National Park Service has, or plans to acquire, any legal interest. Structures are constructed works that serve some form of human activity and that generally are immovable. The list is evaluated or "classified" by the National Register criteria.
