Bent's Old Fort (reconstruction), 1976 Consensus Determination of Eligibility, July 2025 with supporting text, sources, maps, and photographs. SHPO Concurrence Letter is included with the CDOE. Documents find the reconstruction of Bent’s Old Fort, 1976, is eligible for listing in the NRHP under Criterion A as significant at the state level for the year 1976 in the area of entertainment/recreation as an example of the trend of historical reconstructions in Colorado and the west. Criterion Consideration G is justified given the nature of the reconstruction as a flagship project for both the NPS and for Colorado’s heritage tourism sector. A February 2025 CDOE that proposed non-eligibility and the SHPO non-concurrence is also included. The Consensus Determination of Eligibility process allows Federal decision makers, in consultation with SHPOs, FPOs, or THPOs, and other consulting parties to assess a resource for listing in the NRHP. If they agree that it meets NRHP criteria the property is treated as eligible for purposes of compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
