National Park Service (NPS) biologists conducted an aerial survey for Red-throated loons over five flying days from June 21, 2019 to June 26, 2019 in the Seward Peninsula and Cape Krusenstern area of Western Alaska. Biologists observed 269 loons of three species, 25 nesting pairs, 21 nests, 13 eggs in 189 observations. In terms ofYellow-billed loons, the primary loon of interest to the NPS, biologists observed 5 loons, 0 nestingpairs, 1 nests, 0 eggs in 4 observations.
