Missouri Bladderpod Monitoring Standard Operating Procedure 1, Version 2.0: Preseason Preparation and Training

Leis S . 2026. Missouri Bladderpod Monitoring Standard Operating Procedure 1, Version 2.0: Preseason Preparation and Training

SOPs were recently revised from the original protocol publication and several changes to SOP 1 have been made (Young et al. 2008) SOP 1 was formerly titled Field Work Preparation and was included in the 2008 publication of the protocol (Young et al. 2008). Content was reorganized in this version to focus on activities in preparation for a field season, excluding fieldwork to mark sampling grids. Marking sampling grids was previously in the appendix of the original protocol narrative (Young et al. 2008) but has been moved to a new SOP (10). Preseason training was formerly in SOP 2 but is now combined in this new version of SOP 1. Therefore, SOP 2 is formally retired from the protocol. This new version of SOP 1 includes all of the datasheets that were previously in SOP 4. Datasheet production is a key preparatory step and best fits in this SOP. SOP 1 now describes the materials needed for field operations including training and population estimation. Materials include data sheets, training materials, and field equipment needed for both training and field operations. A template for annual training activities as well as botanical information on the Missouri bladderpod are included as well.
