Northern Colorado Plateau Network Herpetofauna Inventory, Hovenweep NM

Northern Colorado Plateau Network Herpetofauna Inventory, Hovenweep NM. 2001-2004

The Northern Colorado Plateau Network (NCPN) sponsored a herpetofauna inventory conducted in Hovenweep National Monument (HOVE) during 2001 and 2002. Project goals were to provide a baseline inventory of amphibians and reptiles in major habitats; identify park-specific species of special concern; and to provide recommendations for use in development of an effective monitoring program. All six units that comprise the Monument were surveyed using time-area constrained searches (TACS), nighttime road driving, and opportunistic observations. Some voucher specimens were taken, as well as photographic vouchers. Fifteen species of amphibians and reptiles were documented.
