Northern Colorado Plateau Network Herpetofauna Inventory, Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP and Curecanti NRA

Hammerson G, O'Dell T, Evenden A. Northern Colorado Plateau Network Herpetofauna Inventory, Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP and Curecanti NRA. 2004-2005. National Park Service

In 2000, the USGS-BRD in Moab prepared reptile and amphibian master lists for each Northern Colorado Plateau Network (NCPN) park unit. These lists contained species that were known or suspected to occur in park units based on habitats and range distributions. An I&M herpetofauna inventory was then conducted in eleven NCPN parks, though Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park (BLCA) and Curecanti National Recreation Area (CURE) were not included in this effort. After this initial inventory was completed, the master lists were updated and revised during NPSpecies certification in March 2004. Because there were many unknowns in the data for BLCA and CURE, a second inventory was initiated for these two parks. Geoffrey Hammerson, a research zoologist with NatureServe, conducted the inventory during June and August of 2004.
