The intent of this report is to document the 2015 evaluation process for fire effects monitoring activities in the three Flagstaff Area National Monuments (Sunset Crater Volcano, Walnut Canyon, and Wupatki). The report contains overviews of the existing fire effects monitoring plots and data collection procedures, analyses of fire effects monitoring plot data collected between 1993 and 2009, and summaries of the decision process to determine the future direction of fire effects monitoring in each of the monuments. As a result of this evaluation process, 2 existing fire effects monitoring plots in Walnut Canyon National Monument, 16 existing fire effects monitoring plots in Wupatki National Monument, and 15 existing fire effects monitoring plots associated with Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument were discontinued and archived. In addition, a collaborative monitoring approach between the Grand Canyon National Park Fire Ecology Program and the Southern Colorado Plateau Inventory and Monitoring Network was adopted to manage 11 existing fire effects monitoring plots and 2 new collaborative plots in Walnut Canyon National Monument.
