The Central Alaska and Arctic Networks are collaborating to monitor the abundance, composition, and distribution of Dall’s sheep in six of Alaska’s largest park units using aerial distance sampling methods. The primary goal of Dall’s sheep monitoring program is to determine trends in the abundance and distribution of sheep in the parks and preserves, while being statistically robust enough to deal with the difficulties of surveying in this remote area. Dall's sheep surveys and research have been conducted in Alaska National Park lands prior to the Network creation under various methodologies, and legacy data is included in this project.
