This database contains location, attribute, and vegetation data for wetlands inventoried and mapped throughout Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Field mapping was conducted by GRSM staff and research partners from 2004 to 2016, utilizing Trimble and Garmin GPS. Wetlands community classifications have been conducted according to the Cowardin, National Vegetation Classification System (NVCS) and Hydrogeomorphic (HGM) systems. All data are referenced to GCS North America 1983, NAD83. Wetlands identification and mapping methods conform to the National Park Service Procedural Manual #77-1, the Federal Geographic Data Committee Wetlands Mapping Standard (FGDC-STD-015-2009), and the Federal Geographic Data Committee Wetlands Classification Standards (FGDC-STD-004-2013).
