The 100-acre Davison Ranch in-holding was purchased in 1991 by Redwood National and State Parks with assistance from the California Department of Transportation. Work on a Design Concept Plan began at once and included a wetlands and riparian rehabilitation area. In 1996, the B-Mill Deck parcel, adjacent to the Davison property, was acquired and absorbed into the projects underway to develop the former ranch. By 1997, rehabilitation work was focused on the B-Mill Deck area and by 2000 the project, which included a parking lot, bike/hike trail, comfort station, and wetlands area, was completed. The area is now known as Elk meadow. This collection details the merging of the projects and their ultimate outcome.
