Historic Structures Report: Part II (Portion), Architectural Data Section on Adams Mansion, East Wing, Adams National Historic Site
Wrenn GL. 1964. Historic Structures Report: Part II (Portion), Architectural Data Section on Adams Mansion, East Wing, Adams National Historic Site. Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service
This report is intended to cover only one portion of the Adams Mansion, the East Wing. The Historic Structures Report was completed in sections so that structural rehabilitation can be completed on one part of the house, while other areas can remain opened to the public. All reports combine to form the complete Historic Structures Report, Part II, Architectural Data Section, for the Adams Mansion. This and the other report sections cover the structural rehabilitation and the work necessary to preserve the interior and exterior surface fabric from further deterioration. The East Wing was built in 1799-1800 and its framing system is separate from that of the rest of the house. The report presents a brief history and general description of the structure's framework, before illustrating the work that was done to determine its condition. It also outlines the steps needed to correct any deficiencies.
