Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. Denver, CO

This document was prepared for use in the preservation of the piers at Charlestown Navy Yard. It accompanied work to investigate and evaluate the structural condition of all elements of the bulkhead walls, Pier 1 and 2, including the deck on Pier 2. The physical examination of the structures, above and below the water, was performed by structural engineers and technicians from Childs Engineering Corporation for the National Park Service. The existing conditions data that was collected is reported in both graphical and numerical format. Volume I of this report describes the structural development of the structures in a historical context. Volume II (this document) is a structural investigation and evaluation of the structures. A third section contains repair recommendations based on evaluation of the existing conditions.
