This report section provides administrative data on the Guard Lock Number 4 and the Dam 4 Complex in preparation for the restoration of the features. The Dam 4, Guard Lock 4, Stop Gate (or Stop Lock), Guard Bank, and Feeder are all related in a way that would require consideration of all features as one operational entity. The restored complex will graphically illustrate several facets of canal engineering and operations. The Dam 4 Complex would be used as an interpretive attraction with recreational values. The restored stop gate would provide a bridge over the canal, and restoration of the feeder and canal bed would offer a way to reintroduce water to the canal downstream of the dam. The report recommends a complete restoration of this canal complex, based on physical evidence and available records. The period of restoration would be the final year of active operation of the canal.
