Architect Lee Nelson and Buildings Restoration Specialist Gordie Whittington arrived in Yorktown to begin restoration work on the Archer House on February 16, 1959. Prior to that, the structure had been stripped of its lath and plaster, modern partitions, front porch, and modern chimney. Measured drawings and photographs were made to record conditions before restoration was started. The house was planned to be adapted for residential use. This document describes the restoration process through narrative and photographs. Previous historical, archeological, and architectural reports are cited in the 1959 Historic Structures Report, Part II.
