Fort Hancock is part of the Sandy Hook Unit of the Gateway National Recreation Area. On the entire peninsula of Sandy Hook, there are approximately 300 structures reflecting Light House Board, Lifesaving Service, and United States Army activity from 1764 through the 1970s. These structures are of varying levels of historic and architectural significance. This Historic Structure Assessment Report surveys the NCO Quarters, Duplex (Bldg. 30) at Fort Hancock, providing photographs, floor plans, statements of deficiency, and preservation recommendations. Building #30 is a two-story building designed to house two non-commissioned officers and their families. It is identical in design and use to building #29. The building is a two-story rectangular building with a full length covered porch projecting west; the walls are a buff-colored brick; the gable roof is slate.
