This report contains details about the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) building complex, including the historical significance, a physical history, existing conditions, and recommendations for treatment. The CCC building complex sits at the bottom of Frijoles Canyon and forms the general interpretive introduction to many of the cultural resources of Bandelier National Park. The park contains natural and geophysical resources and prehistoric ruins of the 12th and 16th centuries. The CCC buildings are also considered to be historically and architecturally significant features of national significance. Included in the study area are 31 CCC buildings in the residential, administrative, lodge, and campground areas in Frijoles Canyon, and the fire lookout and entrance station. Landscape features in the immediate vicinity of these buildings are also addressed. This study does not include the campground, entrance road, and surrounding landscape features. The report is one part of the Development/Study Package 224, which includes rehabilitation of various systems and features scheduled for design and construction over a period of several years. The report begins with administrative data, followed by a brief narrative history and summary of significance, physical history, existing conditions, treatment recommendations, framework for assessing accessibility, and recommendations for further study.
