The North Atlantic Region of the National Park Service has an active science and natural resource management program committed to providing scientifically-supported solutions to resource management needs. In March 1987 the Region's science program convened a highly successful conference at the University of Massachusetts. It is time to again provide a forum for scientists, resource managers, and park managers to report on research, monitoring and inventory results and to provide examples of research findings and resource management activities being successfully employed toward the design and implementation of effective natural and cultural resource protection.
