Peregrine falcon season report 2010
Johnston AK. 2010. Peregrine falcon season report 2010. National Park Service. Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Maine
This is a summary report of the 2010 peregrine falcon nesting season. It notes that there were very unusual behaviors at the Precipice site in particular. Some of the nesting behavior differences are discussed noting special attention was being paid to the presence of intruders to the nest site (turkey vultures), and it is unknown if the nesting pair were the same as in previous years, but successful fledging was documented. As well as the Precipice there was information for Beech Cliffs and Jordan Cliffs nesting sites. Beech Cliffs successfully fledged four young, with an interesting age distribution noted among the chicks. The Jordan Cliffs site did not appear to have any adult returns, noting the trail was not closed and there were reports of hearing Great Horned Owls in the area. There is some further discussion of behaviors as in comparison to previous years and attached is information on yearly visitor statistics, visitor statistics 2010, peregrine falcon important dates and info 2010, and peregrine adult and fledgling information.
