This report section provides administrative data pertaining to Culverts 126 and 127, between Locks 43 and 44, and Culverts 114, 115, 116, and 118, between Lock 40 and Dam 4 of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. The function of the culverts as structures is necessary for the canal banks, berm, towpath, and trunk to retain continuity. The structures would be primarily functional, except that the exposed walls also reflect historic masonry treatment. Proposed construction activity involved rebuilding of culvert barrels with modern materials and placement of fill to match contiguous sections of canal and embankments. Additional details are covered in the Historical Data Section. A copy of the Project Construction Proposal is included.
