Center for Architectural Conservation. 1989. Historic Structure Assessment Report: Fort Hancock, Officers Club (Bldg. 114). Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. Atlanta, Georgia
Fort Hancock is part of the Sandy Hook Unit of the Gateway National Recreation Area. On the entire peninsula of Sandy Hook, there are approximately 300 structures reflecting Light House Board, Lifesaving Service, and United States Army activity from 1764 through the 1970s. These structures are of varying levels of historic and architectural significance. This Historic Structure Assessment Report surveys the Officers Club (Bldg. 114) at Fort Hancock, providing photographs, floor plans, statements of deficiency, and preservation recommendations. Building #114 is one of the oldest buildings inspected at Sandy Hook. The main block of the residence was purportedly built as the Chief Engineer's residence in 1878. The building is a 2.5 story brick building with a mansard roof with an addition built in 1904.
