Architectural Conservation Center. 1990. Historic Structure Assessment Report: Fort Hancock, Civilian Barracks (Bldg. 80). Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. Douglasville, Georgia
Fort Hancock is part of the Sandy Hook Unit of the Gateway National Recreation Area. On the entire peninsula of Sandy Hook, there are approximately 300 structures reflecting Light House Board, Lifesaving Service, and United States Army activity from 1764 through the 1970s. These structures are of varying levels of historic and architectural significance. This Historic Structure Assessment Report surveys the Civilian Barracks (Bldg. 80) at Fort Hancock, providing photographs, floor plans, statements of deficiency, and preservation recommendations. Building #80 was built to house ten civilian teamsters who had previously been quartered in the blacksmith shop loft. In 1929, the building was converted into two separate living quarters.
