"The Puerto Rico State Historic Preservation Plan 2006-2010 is a general guide to effectively directing and coordinating efforts for historic preservation in Puerto Rico over the next five years. This document serves, in turn, as a reference to various agencies, institutions, associations and individuals, interested in the sustainable development of Puerto Rico, the revitalization of its communities and the integral development of its citizens. To achieve these purposes, it is necessary to recognize the importance and benefits of historic preservation and to seek its implementation as an essential element of these initiatives. We invite you to be part of these efforts by identifying those goals that you, or the agency you represent, can collaborate on and participate in. You can adopt our goals and objectives as part of your agency's plans to fulfill the civic responsibility we all share and develop activities that promote the implementation of this plan. You are part of this effort to preserve Puerto Rico's historic heritage. We're counting on you!"
