From the memorandum: "On Friday, September 26, 2014, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, VHB staff observed bus activity at Sieur de Monts. This memorandum presents data and general observations regarding that activity. - Three cruise ships were in port on September 26th - Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas (2,100 passengers), Aida Cruises’ Aida Bella (2,050 passengers), and Holland America’s Maasdam (1,258 passengers). The 5,408 passengers was the 5th highest daily total of the 2014 cruise ship season. The weather was sunny with temperatures in the mid‐70s. - Bus activities observed at Sieur de Monts included Island Explorer buses, cruise ship excursion buses, concessions buses (Acadia National Park Tours and Oli’s Trolley), and a school bus used by a children’s camp. In addition to 25 trips by Island Explorer buses, there were 23 trips by other buses between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Of these, 11 were cruise ship excursion buses, 11 were concession tour buses, and one school bus. - The concession buses typically dwelled for around 20 to 25 minutes, while cruise ship excursion buses would stay for approximately 25 to 30 minutes. - At Sieur de Monts, there is a designated stop for the Island Explorer buses, and two designated areas for other buses. Each of these two bus areas has space for two buses. As illustrated by the figure below, the only time when all four bus spaces were occupied happened between 10:30 am and 11:00 am. At other times of the day there were never more than two buses parked."
