Architectural Conservation Center. 1990. Historic Structure Assessment Report: Fort Hancock, Bachelor Officers' Quarters (Bldg. 27). Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. Douglasville, Georgia
Fort Hancock is part of the Sandy Hook Unit of the Gateway National Recreation Area. On the entire peninsula of Sandy Hook, there are approximately 300 structures reflecting Light House Board, Lifesaving Service, and United States Army activity from 1764 through the 1970s. These structures are of varying levels of historic and architectural significance. This Historic Structure Assessment Report surveys the Bachelor Officers' Quarters (Bldg. 27) at Fort Hancock, providing photographs, floor plans, statements of deficiency, and preservation recommendations. Building #27 was built as part of the 1896 master plan, planning to house five sets of bachelor officers' quarters. This building is a three-story buff brick structure on a raised basement with a hipped roof, semi-circular projecting bays, and a wood porch on front.
