Gulf Coast Network Amphibian Monitoring Project

All Gulf Coast Network parks host breeding populations of diverse amphibian species. Key reasons for monitoring amphibians in network parks are that (1) several species are included in the management objectives of one or more parks; (2) amphibians are widely considered to be indicators of ecosystem health; and (3) amphibian monitoring in parks can be compared with regional and national data. The Gulf Coast Network monitors amphibians in three national park system units: Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, Gulf Islands National Seashore and San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. This project also had a pilot phase that was conducted in more parks, included reptiles, and used some additional sampling techniques. The datasets and other products associated with the pilot phase are stored in their own project, linked under 'See Also' below.
