Northeast Coastal and Barrier Inventory and Monitoring Network (NCBN)

Northeast Coastal and Barrier Inventory and Monitoring Network (NCBN).

The Northeast Coastal and Barrier Network (NCBN) is one of 32 National Park Service I&M Networks across the country established to facilitate collaboration, information sharing, and economies of scale in natural resource monitoring. It is comprised of eight national park units, each of which contain a rich and varied array of natural and cultural resources. These parks and their partners are dedicated to understanding and preserving the region's unique resources through science and education. The NCBN consists of 8 units located along the Atlantic seaboard. These parks are similar in their extensive coastlines that interface with uplands which grade into coastal rivers, estuaries, and open ocean, and by shifting sand ecosystems that comprise beaches, dunes, barrier islands, and coastal marshes.
